Meet Teresa, our newest member! A Spanish designer based in the Netherlands, she transforms technology into art, installations, and design pieces that invite curiosity, interaction, and exploration.

Who are you and what kind of work do you make?

“I’m a designer from Spain, based in the Netherlands. My work sits at the intersection of design and digital culture, exploring technology as both a cultural form and a practice. I deconstruct and reinterpret contemporary technologies through artistic and philosophical lenses, with a focus on computational systems and infrastructures.

I develop these ideas in collaboration with research institutions, museums, residency programs, and cultural organizations, creating experimental works that encourage public interaction and collective exchange.

My practice ranges from large-scale sculptural installations using digital fabrication and electronics to functional art and collectible design pieces for galleries and brands. I also maintain an academic practice through teaching, workshops, public presentations, and publications.”

Why did you become a designer?

“I chose design because it’s a creative discipline that brings many others together. For me, design is a practice of translation—turning abstract or complex ideas into tangible, sensorial objects or experiences. My process is often guided by the idea itself, with everything else following naturally. Designing means diving into whatever discipline, practice, or context is necessary to realize that idea.”

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

“I draw inspiration from learning and change. Discovering something new, experiencing different places, meeting new people, or encountering shifting contexts all fuel my creativity. The key for me is to stay open, avoid getting stuck on a single idea, and keep moving, exploring, and learning.”

What project are you most proud of?

“I usually say the latest project I’ve been working on. I see my practice as a continuous exercise rather than a collection of fixed outcomes. What makes me proud is less about a single piece and more the trajectory itself—the process of challenging myself, finding new motivation, and gradually pushing my work further.”

What’s the first thing we can do for you?

“Since joining BNO, I’ve greatly appreciated the quick, straightforward advice on legal and business matters. This support has been invaluable, and I will likely continue to rely on it.”

Where can we see your work soon?

“The soonest opportunity is Dutch Design Week 2025, starting in three weeks, where I’ll present a new installation, Silicon Sublime, inside Sint-Catharinakerk Cathedral.”
