Beste leden,
Terwijl de bovenstroom wordt beheerst door groeiende onrust en oorlog, borrelt daaronder een stille, hoopvolle tegenbeweging die zich richt op duurzame, kleinschalige en menselijke manieren van produceren en samenleven. Deze onderstroom – vaak onzichtbaar en lokaal georganiseerd – vormt een krachtig alternatief dat de toekomst hertekent. Niet door luid protest, maar door betekenisvolle daden en innovatieve vormen van samenwerking en kennisdeling.
Tegelijkertijd weerspiegelt de onderstroom ook de onderbuikgevoelens die aan beide kanten van het politieke spectrum spelen. De onderstroom is onzichtbaar en onvoorspelbaar, soms gevaarlijk als magma, soms vruchtbaar als een voedingsbodem voor verandering.
De komende editie van het Dd Yearbook staat in het teken van het thema Undercurrents. Wat betekent dit thema voor jou? We nodigen je uit om een sticker of een graffiti tag te ontwerpen die jouw interpretatie van dit thema belichaamt: welke gevoelens, spanningen of ideeën wil jij blootleggen? Welke discipline je ook beoefent, we zijn benieuwd hoe jij als ontwerper licht werpt op dit thema.
Stuur je inzending uiterlijk 26 oktober 2025 naar dd@bno.nl met als onderwerp Open Call: De Onderstroom. We kijken uit naar jullie bijdragen!

Aanleveren en voorwaarden
Een selectie van de inzendingen wordt door de redactie gekozen en opgenomen in Dd Yearbook. Door deel te nemen ga je ermee akkoord dat we je werk mogen publiceren in het Dd Yearbook, maar dat publicatie in het boek niet gegarandeerd is.
Ook verklaar je dat het werk volledig origineel is, geen inbreuk maakt op rechten van derden en dat je beschikt over alle benodigde rechten voor eventuele publicatie. Voor opname van een inzending in het boek wordt geen financiële vergoeding verstrekt.
Dit zijn de specificaties:
- Formaat: vierkant of rond, max. 70 × 70 mm (print en digitaal inzetbaar);
- Kleur: full color (CMYK), zwart-wit ook mogelijk;
- Bestandstype: vector (.ai, .eps, .pdf) of hoge resolutie (.png, .tiff, min. 300 dpi);
- Tekst: korte toelichting op de interpretatie van het thema (max. 150 woorden, Nederlands of Engels);
- Tijdscriteria: ingezonden werk dient recent te zijn, gerealiseerd in 2025;
- Deelname: alleen BNO-leden kunnen deelnemen;
- Deadline: 26 oktober 2025.

Dear members,
While the mainstream is dominated by mounting unrest and war, beneath the surface a quiet, hopeful counter-movement is emerging, one that focuses on sustainable, small-scale, and human-centered ways of producing and living together. These undercurrents — often invisible and locally organized — form a powerful alternative that is reshaping the future. Not through loud protest, but through meaningful deeds and innovative forms of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
At the same time, undercurrents also reflects the gut feelings that play out on both sides of the political spectrum. Undercurrents are invisible and unpredictable, sometimes dangerous like magma, sometimes fertile as a breeding ground for change.
This year’s edition of the Dd Yearbook takes Undercurrents as its theme. What does this theme mean to you? We invite you to design a sticker or a graffiti tag that captures your interpretation: which feelings, tensions, or ideas would you like to reveal? Across all disciplines, we are eager to see how you, as a designer, shed light on this theme.

A selection of entries will be chosen by the editorial team and included in Dd Yearbook. By participating, you agree that we may publish your work in Dd Yearbook, but that publication in the book is not guaranteed.
By submitting an entry, you also declare that the work is fully original, does not infringe upon the rights of third parties, and that you hold all rights necessary for potential publication. No financial compensation will be provided for inclusion in the book.
The specifications are:
- Format: square or round, max. 70 × 70 mm (print and digital use);
- Color: full color (CMYK); black and white also accepted;
- File type: vector (.ai, .eps, .pdf) or high resolution (.png, .tiff, min. 300 dpi);
- Text: short explanation of your interpretation of the theme (max. 150 words, Dutch or English);
- Time criteria: submitted work must be recent, created in 2025;
- Participation: only BNO members are eligible to participate;
- Deadline: 26 October 2025.
