who are we?

The Association of Dutch Designers (BNO) brings together over 2,500 individual designers, as well as 200 design agencies and design departments within companies. That makes us the most important representative organization for the design industry in the Netherlands.

The design sector here has a rich tradition and is well-organized. Our association was set up for and by designers. In this section, we will paint a picture of how the BNO came into existence and of what we do on a daily basis.

Let us first take a peek at the History of our organization. That will make it clear why we have managed to attract so many professionals from all segments of the design industry. Under the heading Members, you will see that our members – designers, agencies and design departments – are active across the entire design spectrum. Then there is the section entitled Organization, which will shed light on how we serve our members, who cut across the whole design spectrum. They are the ones who put into practice, the policies of the General Board and help members to organize a whole range of activities.
