What do we do?

We live and breathe design. With over 2,500 members, we represent the largest design community in the Netherlands. We strengthen the position of designers in the market and political sphere, and we offer them practical support through training, advice, knowledge, publications and networking events.  


For clients, this means access to a broad network of professional designers, up-to-date knowledge of the sector and visibility of talent and quality. In short: we make sure design thrives – and that clients benefit from the very best the sector can offer.

Our members either meet specific educational requirements set out in our House Rules, or they join BNO after a review by our Admission, Disputes and Advisory Council.

Procurement

Good procurement starts with a clear question, market knowledge and proportional requirements. In our Dossier Procurement, you will find concrete tips for commissioning designers. Please note that this document is only available in Dutch.

Pitches and competitions

Sometimes a pitch can help find the right designer or agency, if the briefing, selection and compensation are transparent and fair. Together with a number of other industry representatives, including clients, we have drawn up a Pitch Code. This code and more practical tips and guidelines can be found in our Dossier Pitches. Please note that this document is only available in Dutch.
