Op 30 oktober vindt de 18e editie van het Information Design Conference (IDC) plaats, hét langstlopende congres over information design in Nederland. Zoals elk jaar is er weer een zorgvuldig samengesteld programma met sprekers uit binnen- en buitenland, die aan de hand van verschillende inspirerende projecten hun visie op information design delen.

Line-up

Een veelzijdige line-up van informatieontwerpers en datajournalisten uit binnen- en buitenland is samengesteld.

• Jen Christiansen is an information designer, visual science communicator, and author of the book Building Science Graphics: An illustrated guide to communicating science through diagrams and visualizations. She began her publishing career in New York at Scientific American, moved to Washington DC to join the art department of National Geographic.
• James Cheshire is Professor of Geographic Information and Cartography at University College London and an internationally renowned cartographer. His books, including Atlas of the Invisible, have been translated into dozens of languages and show how geographic data can reveal and explain complex social issues.
  
• Nadieh Bremer is an award winning data visualization designer and data artist. She graduated as an Astronomer, started working as a data scientist before finding her true passion in the visualization of data. Having been awarded Best Individualin the Information is Beautiful Awards, and (co-)writer of Data Sketches and her new book CHART, she focuses on visuals uniquely crafted for each specific dataset, often using large, complex datasets while employing vibrant color palettes.
• Martynas Birškys is a designer, creative director, and founder of DADADA Studio, a Vilnius-based design practice established in 2005. The studio specializes in visual and spatial design, creating immersive experiences for cultural and commercial clients alike. His work includes collaborations with museums, cultural institutions, and leading brands such as Vinted, CNBC, Hilton, the Office of the President of Lithuania, and numerous museums across Lithuania.
• Attila Bátorfy is an award-winning data visualisation specialist, media scholar and lecturer in information design at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. Through his visual journalism projects and the Cabinet of Infographic Curiosities, he explores the intersection of storytelling, data and visual communication.
• Building on her former position as an art director in a creative agency, Julie Brunet is currently an independent data & information designer known as datacitron. She believes in the accessibility of information through design and storytelling, as well as the virtuous role data designers can play in a society shaped by the ever-increasing amount and complexity of data.
• With nearly 36 years of experience as an infographic designer, graphic designer, and journalist, Jan Schwochow is one of the big names in information design. He built Golden Section Graphics into one of the largest infographic agencies in the world, later moved into visual storytelling and data visualisation, and in 2025 relaunched the iconic INGRAPHICS magazine — a stage for visual storytellers worldwide.
• Viola Bernacchi is an Italian designer and data visualiser based in The Netherlands. Her design approach combines a theoretical background with a strong interest in building visual systems that make complex issues understandable. She joined RNDR, a design studio for interactive media, where her practice explores the relation between code and design. Using data as a tool, she works with an interdisciplinary team on various projects, from physical and interactive exhibitions to generative visual identities, for cultural institutions, universities and innovative clients worldwide.
