Foundation We Are started seven years ago as a design collective of 8 designers and is now a young cultural organization and community working on societal issues and interdisciplinary innovation projects. We Are knows and supports a broad community of socially engaged designers, makers, and researchers.
Within the Shifting Grounds program, we are organizing and creating a series of events, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary collaborations over the next 2 years. Additionally, We Are has 600 m² of exhibition, event, and community space at Strijp-S in Eindhoven, where various designers and creative professionals currently have a desk or studio.
We are looking for an all-round intern for communications and production
As a producer, you will have the opportunity to actively contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration on major societal issues. You will be involved in cross-practice incubators, exhibitions, events, and educational programs, where you will play an active role in the organization and planning.
Throughout the six-month period, you will also contribute to our largest annual exhibition, presented during Dutch Design Week, gaining hands-on experience in the realization of a large-scale public programme. And as a communications designer, you will assist in creating visual identities and developing communication materials for our programmes, events, and exhibitions. You will also adapt these materials across various formats and media, ensuring that all communications align with our overall vision and strategy.
We are looking for an intern starting August 1st (but no later than August 15th) for a period of 6 months to strengthen our team for approximately 24 - 32 hours per week.
Who are you?
You have a strong interest in major societal challenges and are motivated to contribute to projects that address them. Energised by organising events, you are proactive, hands-on, and enjoy turning ideas into reality. You are eager to learn more about production in all its forms, from exhibition installation and spatial setup to event coordination.
In addition to organisation and production, you have a strong interest in communications, from concept development and strategy to design and implementation. You have an eye for visual communication and are interested in developing communication materials. You are eager to gain experience in writing press texts, creating content, and learning more about communication strategies that support our programmes and activities.
You have an excellent command of the English language; Dutch is a plus.
You live in or near Eindhoven to be able to work on location and also help out during events in the mornings or evenings.
What will you be doing?
As an intern on the team at Foundation We Are, you will actively collaborate with the rest of the team and share responsibility for the following tasks:
- Contribute to the operational execution of events.
- Assist with event concept development, including brainstorming creative ideas and drafting event schedules.
- Setting up the event space and unleashing your creativity on it.
- Ensuring a professional (but also welcoming) environment for visitors and acting as the first point of contact for questions, requests, and complaints.
- Contribute to designing visual identities for projects, initiatives, programs, and exhibitions.
- Develop communication materials for web, social media, and print.
- Contribute to We Are's new communication strategy.
- Graphic design and desktop publishing for publications.
